International Migration- An issue for the world

Current meetings of the Commission on Population and Development have brought attention to International Migration. It is expected that there will be 214 MILLION international migrants, with nearly 60% living in developed countries. Female migrants comprise 49% of all migrants and will be highest in Europe (52%). It is expected that this will increase 2% each year for the foreseeable future.

Internal migration, the movement of populations from rural to urban areas within countries, is also increasing at a very incredible rate.

The overall population of the world in 2010 is 6.8 billion; China 1.346 billion and India 1.198 billion the largest two populations of the world.
